Picket Fence Release and Giveaway

Happy Sunday!
It's time or our March release at Picket fence Studios. Do you love the ocean? if so this release is for you!

Today I am sharing three samples with you and I will share more throughout the week.

My first card above uses the A Whale Breaching stamp set. I love this whale tale of a stamp. To create this card I stamped the bottom portion  where his tale comes out of the water and leaves little waves in embossing ink and embossed it with white powder. Next I restamped it in black masking off the bottom so the little waves stay white. I masked off the whale tale and ink blended the background using distress inks in Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin, Picked Raspberry for the sky and Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean and Peacock feathers for the water. The greeting is from the Merpeople of the Sea stamp set.

My second sample is a slimline card using the new Nested Rectangles, which are stitched!  I created a distresses background on some White Heavystock by using Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon and Blueprint Sketch. I added the whale by using the Whales and Mermaids Slimline Stencil and some paperglaze with the new Enhancer. I mixed 1 part Mint Hydrangea with 1 part PG Enhancer.
For the underside of the whale I added some Artemisia Silver for more contrast.

My last sample for today uses the Mail's Here set. Now you are probably wonder what the heck? why is a mailbox on a island.
Well there is a little backstory to this sample.
If you are a Nicholas Sparks reader then you probably know the story.
There is a mail box on the coast of North Carolina called Kindred Spirits. Nicholas Sparks wrote about it in his book, Every Breath.
This set reminds me of that mailbox, now this mailbox is't on an island out in the ocean but it sorta is because you cannot get to it with a car. You have to bike or walk down the beach which is a 3'5 mile walk one way. When you get there, there is a bench and the mailbox if filled with notebooks where other have written letters to their loved ones.
We went there the year after we lost a brother and brother in law a couple weeks apart and wrote letters to them in these notebooks. It was so cool to read the letters that others wrote to their loved ones and it was healing to write letters to my brother and brother in love. This is why I used the 'I Miss you" sentiment.
To create this card I started with a white card base and a white panel. I stamped the island from the  You or WiFi set, colored it then masked it off to blend the background. I stamped the mail box and colored it using Alcohol markers and cut it out with the coordinating die.
