Recipe Monday ~Backgrounds

Good Afternoon, I am late posting for two reasons, Blogger is acting up but I just finished my card this afternoon.
The challenge this week at Recipe Challenge Blog is Big Bold Backgrounds. well I struggled with this one. We are to use a big background stamp or make our own background with something from the kitchen. I could not find a background stamp for my recipe. So I got an Clementine from the kitchen and made my own background by rolling it in ink then rolling it on my paper.
With Easter being this Sunday I wanted to share a recipe where you can use those hard boiled eggs that you will have left over.
To play along make your recipe card and leave a link at Recipe Challenge blog. Looking for supplies? You can find all you need at Scrapbook Store At Your Door

Mount Up

Good Palm Sunday morning!
It's time for another Stampin Sisters In Christ challenges and this is a sad day for me as my term is up and this is my last post as a member of the design team. I have made some wonderful friends and will miss them greatly. I will still continue to play along with the challenges as we will always be sisters in Christ!
This week Kristine is our challenge hostess and she chose this verse:

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
Isaiah 40:31

I love that verse, It is so good to know if we wait upon the Lord we will renew our strength. The hard part in this verse is WAIT, so many times I want things in my time and do not wait to see what the Lord has for me and by doing that I miss out on a blessing He had for me.

Kristine's challenge is "Mount Up" parts of your image in layers. (Paper Tole technique).
I love this technique as it adds so much definition to your image.
My card uses the sketch from this weeks challenge at Our Creative Corner. The stamp is Flourishes: Signs Of Spring

Paper Maniac Scrapbooking

Hi there!
Patti from Paper Maniac, challenged us to make a scrapbook page this week. Uh oh I thought, I haven't done a page in years but I have to admit it was fun! Not only did I do a page but it is a full 12X12. I used Kraft Cardstock for the base and the new Jillibean Soup papers. The stamps are from Unity Stamp Co. and I made my flower using Nestibilities. For the stem and leaves I used my Slice and for the center I used my Brad Maker so it would be the same as the stem.
Have a happy Saturday and see you next week!
This page is of my daughter and her best friend the weekend before she left to go to Germany. She came to San Antonio, Texas to spend time with her before she left. I am thankful for her, she truly is a friend to Courtney.
I thought it would be a nice surprise for Courtney since she has been wanting me to do her a page of the two of them. I left the journal card blank so she can journal what she wants.

Recipe Monday ~Comfort Food

It's Monday and time for another Recipe Challenge. Julie challenged us to make a Comfort Food recipe card. This one was quite challenging for me, not the comfort recipe part (I have plenty of my Mom's recipes) but the actual card part. We are to make our recipe card look "homey" also. So I ended up choosing my Grandma's buttermilk fried chicken recipe. The childhood memories of going to my Grandma's on Sunday after church to have lunch with her, makes this a comfort food for me. The tough part was how do I make a fried chicken recipe remind me of that? I came across this red gingham paper and bing the light bulb went off. My Grandma's table cloth looked just like this and she had a chicken coop also, so I pulled out my rooster stamp.
To play along just create your "Comfort Food" recipe card and post a link on the Recipe Challenge Blog so we may try it. You can find all you need and more to make recipe cards at Julie's store Scrapbook Store At Your Door.

****Blog Candy Alert****
If you play along with us the next couple weeks you have a chance to win some BasicGrey blog candy! you can see it on The Recipe Challenge Blog

A Clean Heart

Supplies: Stamps: Unity Stamp Co, Kraft Cardstock, Jillibean Soup,Caraway Seeds, Nestibilities, buttons

Happy Sunday!
It's time for another Stampin Sister In Christ challenge and this week I am the hostess. God lead me to this verse and it is one I pray daily.

"Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness, let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me."
Psalm 51:7-10
My challenge to you is to make a CAS (Clean & Simple) card. If you are saying what is that? Its just a card without all the fru-fru or embellishments. You can find plenty of samples here on SplitCoast Stampers. and here on clean&simple stamping.

I love the message paraphrase of that verse and want to share it also.

7-15 Soak me in your laundry and I'll come out clean,
scrub me and I'll have a snow-white life.
Tune me in to foot-tapping songs,
set these once-broken bones to dancing.
Don't look too close for blemishes,
give me a clean bill of health.
God, make a fresh start in me,
shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life.
Don't throw me out with the trash,
or fail to breathe holiness in me.
Bring me back from gray exile,
put a fresh wind in my sails!
Give me a job teaching rebels your ways
so the lost can find their way home.
Commute my death sentence, God, my salvation God,
and I'll sing anthems to your life-giving ways.
Unbutton my lips, dear God;
I'll let loose with your praise.

This is the prayer of David one of my favorites in the Bible. He had made many mistakes in his life even murder, yet he was still called faithful in Hebrews 11; A man after God's own heart. You see God doesn't care how many mistakes you made, he just wants you to come to him just as you are to have a love relationship with him.
I just love the message paraphrase, especially "Shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life." Is your life chaotic like mine? Well we have a God who can make it beautiful who loves us and soaks us in His laundry, the blood of Christ so that we are made clean in His sight. No one is righteous but by the blood of Jesus we are called the children of God.

Happy Spring!

Hi There!
Today is the first day of Spring and it is supposed to snow tonight, what's up with that!?!
I love the spring when all the flowers are blooming and all the brown turns to green.
With spring starting and the flowers starting to bloom our theme at Paper Maniac this week is Flowers Galore.
For my card share I made a CAS using Treasure Me from Unity Stamp Co. along with new papers from Cosmo Cricket, Early Bird. The sentiment is from the Unity December Store kit.
I hope you have a happy first day of spring and it is spring where you are!

A Springtime Wedding

Spring and summer bring a lot of weddings and Sweet 'n Sassy has a beautiful line of Wedding digis. My card uses the Wedding Cake, we also have a Bouquet and Wedding Bells you could use on your card. There are plenty of floral stamps that would make beautiful cards as well. I colored the image with Copic markers and used stickles and bridal embossing tinsel on the cake. The flower is handmade with a crochet flower by my fellow DT member/friend Leah. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your Saturday

He Is Risen!

He has risen indeed! Good Sunday morning!
It's time for another Stampin' Sisters In Christ challenge and this week our hostess is the talented Helen and she chose the following verse:
The LORD will give strength unto his people;
the LORD will bless his people with peace.
Psalm 29:11
Her challenge is "Make a card/lo/project using a peaceful image or a verse about peace."
My card used a Sweet 'n Sassy image "Christ Arose". I think the cross is so peaceful. If it weren't for the cross we would not even have peace.

Know Jesus KNOW Peace; No Jesus NO Peace.

I pray each of you that have stopped by my blog know Jesus. If you do not please leave a comment with your email and I will share Him with you.
